Planning and Imposition
Planning new jobs in printing is a very important part of the printing process in order to maintain maximum profitability. Not only does this include selection of which printing and finishing equipment needed to meet the job requirement, flexibility in making decisions and choices is just as important.
Imposition planning is a key part of this process. Given in planning several choices may need to be made as to which press, paper size and finishing line to produce a job, it’s also important to be able to quickly produce possible imposed layouts for each option. By having the capability to change configurations quickly run lengths, paper waste and possible layout problems can be quickly identified providing the planner more information and help avoid costly errors.
In high-end systems this can be accomplished with MIS systems along with other imposition tools that allow for many scenarios to be quickly analyzed. On the lower end and in the middle of the market less expensive imposition tools can be used by the planner to run different scenarios, speeding the decision process and reducing errors. Plus, these same tools can be used in prepress allowing for a direct communication between planning and prepress.
Printers of all sizes and budgets can benefit from imposition planning as part of their overall production workflow. Xitron offers choices for every customer from standalone or intergreated imposition to complex automated ganging and job planning solutions with JDF connectivity to MIS systems.
