Prepress Software Innovation

Xitron develops prepress workflow and RIP products designed to drive the industry’s most popular output devices. If you’re looking to bring new life to an older computer-to-plate system or need a full-featured workflow for a high-speed digital press, Xitron has you covered. Our dealers have installed over 40,000 RIPs around the world, driving output devices from almost every major manufacturer in every market.

We develop innovative tools with process requirements in mind, which means functionality is based on what you print. Whether commercial offset, flexo, narrow web, label, wide format, packaging, or specialty graphics, Xitron designs the prepress workflow and tools that work with you, not around you.

Xitron’s Navigator Harlequin RIP is a best-in-class implementation of Global Graphic’s Harlequin RIP technology. Providing prepress environments with fast, predictable, and reliable interpretation of PostScript, PDF, and EPS format files, Navigator is the most trusted name in RIP architecture with over 30,000 installations worldwide.

Navigator Northstar fixes the inconsistent color issues encountered by users of Astrojet M1 printers as well as the Colordyne 1600 (C & S), RTI-Digital Vortex 850S, Neopost Mach 5 and Mach X, Formax Colormax 7, and Trojan series of printers, all of which use the Memjet VersaPass™ inkjet head. Northstar delivers the same functionality to users of the OKI Data 931 and 941 toner-based printers.

Sierra is built on Adobe’s PDF Print Engine (APPE) with cross media functionality in mind. It’s equally productive in commercial, digital, and hybrid applications with a strong feature set that includes Adobe in-RIP trapping, PDF preflighting, dynamic imposition, and advanced soft proofing in both 2D, and 3D formats.

Variegator is a simple, stand-alone application that makes variable data printing quick and profitable. Variegator unlocks the power of a digital press to produce high profit variable data print jobs including labels, hang tags, and flyers. Variegator gives you the tools to produce sophisticated data jobs with elements like variable barcodes, images and colors by dragging and dropping rather than writing complex code.

Xitron’s inkjet cost calculator is an on-line tool designed to help production inkjet press users determine costs on a job-by-job basis. It can be configured by each user to reflect current ink and inkjet head costs, and changed or updated whenever necessary. Jobs are uploaded through a simple user interface where they are analyzed according to the user’s stored criteria, and a cost report is returned in a matter of seconds.

Designed to “catch” TIFF files from any RIP or workflow, Raster Blaster converts them into the raster formats used by computer-to-plate engines, direct imaging presses, and other output devices. Having an after-market option like Raster Blaster means users can choose RIP, workflow, and output vendors independently from each other, which can result in significant cost savings.

Capitalizing on several advancements in imaging interface technology, the Xitron Network Interface eliminates the need for a host computer in new Raster Blaster Pro installations, as well as many upgrade scenarios. XNI offers an incredibly small footprint, network-wide access, touch screen compatibility, and the reliable, rugged construction for which Xitron’s USB interfaces are known.

The key to prepress independence®, Xitron’s unique USB interface bridges the connectivity gap between output device manufacturers and prepress workflows. Used in conjunction with Harlequin-based RIPs such as Navigator, or with Xitron’s Raster Blaster TIFF Catcher, the “Blue Box” communicates raster data directly to CtP and film imagers manufactured by Agfa, ECRM, Heidelberg, Screen, and others.
